Common questions about this topic

What addition skills should a Grade 2 student know? By the end of Grade 2, Ontario students are expected to add two-digit numbers with and without regrouping, use strategies such as counting on, making ten, and using a number line, and solve addition word problems with sums up to 100. Paperpath worksheets practise all of these skills within the 12–15 minute page format.

Should my Grade 2 child be using regrouping (carrying) yet? Yes — regrouping is introduced in Grade 2 in the Ontario curriculum. If your child is not yet ready for regrouping, Paperpath's Quick Check assessment will identify this and generate worksheets at the right starting band. As your child builds fluency, the level adjusts to introduce regrouping naturally.

How often should a Grade 2 child practise addition? Short daily practice sessions of 10–15 minutes are more effective than longer, infrequent sessions for building number fluency in early grades. Paperpath is designed for exactly this kind of routine — one printed page, completed with a pencil, returned and logged in the app. Most parents use it 3–5 days a week.
